We are proud to announce that world-famous fraud investigator Tom Walker has joined Symmetry as our new Head of Fraud Strategy. Tom built his reputation as the preeminent international telecoms sleuth during the 20 years he oversaw investigations at AT&T and T-Mobile US. Tom will now shape the roadmap for Symmetry's anti-fraud products and services whilst speaking to law enforcement agencies and telcos about the tools needed to fight cross-border scams and the artificial inflation of traffic.
Tom's many accomplishments are too numerous to list them all, but they include his instrumental role in the creation of Europol's Cyber-Telecom Working Group and the founding of the US Industry Traceback Group. His renown in law enforcement circles and the world of telecoms was cemented when he instigated Operation Walker, the Spanish police investigation that dismantled the infamous stolen handset IRSF gang which had plagued Barcelona.
Tom is routinely asked to provide training and advice about the latest fraud developments to telcos, industry associations and law enforcement agencies. He graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
During his spare time, Tom enjoys hiking, biking and photography.
Symmetry CEO Bill Leahy welcomed Tom to the team:
Tom is known worldwide for his contribution to fighting telecoms fraud and bringing criminals to justice. His vision and dedication allowed him to spearhead some of the most complex investigations that have occurred in the communications sector. We are thrilled that Tom will now be in the vanguard of translating Symmetry's fraud intelligence into the next generation of weapons used to combat international telecoms scams.
